My Vintage Wedding: Invitations!

I am only about 6 months away from my wedding, so if I ever want to share some of the details with you, I better get started! Today I thought I would share some vintage inspired invitations with you. I found these when looking on line for my wedding invitations. The first few are from Fender Skirts, and are actually for a bridal shower, but they are so sweet that I had to show you!

I saw this in a bridal mag. They made the save the dates, invites, favors etc all with this sweet silhouette logo.

This next set is from Zazzles. I could only snag a thumbnail, so I had to blow it up and the quality is horrible- so sorry! They have a tight hold on their graphics! So check out their website to see them in their full glory!

This set was my favorite, and perfectly fit my wedding colors, so we ordered them! We got the custom Save The Date card, Invitation, RSVP Card, and Thank You Notes. Each has a different photo on them from our engagement set (double sided color printing was included, so we used it). It cost a small fortune (darn my expensive tastes), but we love them! We decided it was worth the splurge to get the perfect design. The invitations are your guests first impression of you wedding after all!

We wish we could send you all invitations, but that wouldn't be possible, so at least I can show them to you here!

The Fish Fry Hollywood Speakeasy!

A few weeks ago we went to check out the new location hosting The Fish Fry- Hollywood Speakeasy! This record hop is put on once a month by a friend of ours, Christopher Whitfield (also one of the best DJs in LA, DJ Lucky La Rocka). We knew we had to check it out to support him.

The new location is the Blue Goose Lounge at 5201 Sunset Blvd.

This place has a cool dimly lit feel.

There is a balcony, small dance floor....

and lots of lounge seating! This is not your normal trendy Hollywood club, so it's perfect for the Fish Fry!

Deen and I. I wore my fav pink vintage see-through top and vintage gab skirt.

The "too cool to dance" crowd.

There was a few dancing couples. We didn't get out there and dance because one of the DJs that night played a ton of  big band/old swing music. Not exactly the hep-cat style rockabilly we like to jive too. But a lot of people in Hollywood like that music for dancing, so they took advantage of it.

So when a rockabilly song finally came on, Tallahassee Lassie, I jumped in excitement to stroll!

We smile in Hollywood, don't let people tell you otherwise!

Gettin' my groove on!

We had fun dancing, drinking, and chatting, but all good things have to come to an end. A few minutes later two people started a fight and one threw a giant glass block candle holder at the other. It is sad when people can't control themselves. It ruins the party and reflects poorly on the rockabilly "scene" in general, the establishment and the promoter.

I know no good Rockabilly Socialite would conduct herself like that now would we?

We Finally Got Our O'Keefe and Merritt Stove!

I have loved O'Keefe and Merritt stoves for years but it was never the right time to buy one. I just saw one at my local antique mall for $1,200 but it was pretty beat up and WAY over priced! So when Dave Stuckey and his wife Andrea Stuckey posted a picture of this beauty on their facebook pages, I fell in love with it but figured it was out of reach. They got me in contact with the seller and I found out that it was indeed still for sale, and they would take $250 for it! That next day we went to pick it up, and a few days later we had the gas company install it. When it was all shinned up I took some photos to show you:

The top right burner is a Wilcolator, which can keep a pot on the stove at a consistent temp that you set, good for soups and stews. Normally the thermometer is broken but ours works perfectly and we use it for pasta sauce all the time! It is cool to see the fire automatically go up and down to control the temp!

Broiler

It has a glass shelf too, perfect for cooling pies!

Griddle- a little dirty still from breakfast that morning

optional 5th burner

oven

Storage compartment

Star burners!

After doing a little research, it appears that this may be a DeVille model, "The Cadillac of Ranges'! What an amazing coincidence huh? I think this stove found ME, not visa versa! The stove works great too! We especially love the griddle and use it for everything!

The seller also threw in this record player when we bought the stove!

I like the colors!

It is a Silvertone, works, but just needs a new needle.

We also completed one more little project in the kitchen:

We added some decorative wood trim to the cabinets above our stove. I made a paper template, my 11 year old brother helped me cut it out with a jigsaw, put it into place....

and then I sanded it. When I was sanding it my brother took this pic to show "that I am more then just a pretty face". Too cute!

Then I pained it up! I think it's simply delicate!

I love the heart, my own special touch!

Amber Foxx and Blue Collar Combo at Ink For A Cause

A few weeks ago we went to The Clock Tower Inn to see Amber Foxx and Blue Collar Combo play the Ink For A Cause after party.

We had the gang over for atomic cocktails before the show.

Amber and Sandra brought me over some belated birthday gifts! They are always giving me gifts it seems, aren't they the sweetest???

Amber got me this pink vintage borg scale to match my bathroom! I LOVE it!

I works too! Don't try too hard to see my weight.....its about 7 lbs over due to all those clothes and my shoes!

She also got me some cool new makeup!

Sandra gave me this amazing vintage Kwik-Tan! This may make an appearance at VLV as a photo prop!

I wore my new blue skirt with the matching purse from Ebay. It has white cocks embroidered on it!
