On the last day of our honeymoon we woke up in the Orbit In's Hideaway Hotel, where we had the entire hotel to ourselves.
Because we were the only guests in the hotel we were told that we would have to walk down the street to the main hotel for breakfast.
So you can imagine our surprise when we woke up, still in our robes, and saw that the lounge was open....
and breakfast was set up for the two of us!
They had bagels, toast and English muffins with all the fixings. Yogurt, granola, fresh fruit and juice were also served. Isn't that so nice of them?
The lounge has a kitchen attached, all vintage of course!
The kitchen also had a fridge stocked with pop, juice, tea, creamer and water with orange slices. Staying here felt more like renting a private residence then a hotel room.
We got in one last swim before we had to check out.
Then we grabbed lunch at Cheekys. They had super yummy pesto french fries and flavored bacon! Isn't my husband dreamy? I love his green eyes!
Before we left town we stopped by the Elvis Honeymoon House. We received tickets for the tour from Reagan Foy as a wedding gift. Thanks Reagan!
When you walk up to the house you are walking on big round stepping stones that are elevated over a little water feature. The doors to the house are huge and super heavy with giant door knobs.
Our tour guide for the afternoon was the beautiful Priscilla Perez-Lee. We started the tour on the 1st floor.
She recounted the history of the house, starting with architect Robert Alexander and his family in 1962. The house appeared in Look Magazine and featured the Alexander family at the height of Palm Springs. Elvis leased the house from 1966-1967 and planned his wedding to Priscilla on the property. Once the tabloids discovered the wedding plans they were forced to sneak out of the back and run off to Las Vegas. The couple was able to return after the wedding and honeymoon in the house. Therefore, we thought it was very suitable that we should visit on our honeymoon. We are huge Elvis fans after all!
The highlight of the house was definitely the 64 foot banquet sofa. We are sitting the same place that Elvis and Priscilla sat at.
The back wall of the living room was actually multiple sliding glass pocket doors that opened up onto the pool, bringing the outside in.

Elvis loved this built in BBQ in the kitchen. Not that he needed a indoor BBQ in Palm Springs!
The fridge is huge too! Elvis spent a lot of time hanging out in the kitchen. There are a ton of photos of him leaning on his elbows on the kitchen counter. He really loved his cook, Alvena Roy, that he brought with him. Her cookbook "Fit For A King" was on display there. I need to get a copy!

Then we headed up to the second floor where the master bedroom and bathroom were located. The master bedroom is half round shape with windows over looking the street.
If I could steal anything from this house, it would be the pink bed for sure! Killer, right?
The bed sits in the middle of the room, but the curtains against the headboard makes it feel like it is against a wall. To the right of the bed is a long closet.
How romantic! This bed was where Lisa Marie was conceived. Per the tour guide, apparently the families didn't give the newlyweds much private time so they only had 30 minutes to consummate the marriage and Lisa Marie was born almost exactly 9 months later. Elvis must have been pretty potent!
There was a nice big spa tub in the middle of the bathroom. Robert Alexander really liked to put stuff in the middle of the room, rather than against the walls.
Zack wanted to use Elvis' shower.

Then we headed through a "secret passageway" through the bathroom that led to a hallway with multiple guest rooms. For the time period, this was a mansion. But by today's standard it is a modest size home. Compare this to the homes of today's biggest stars-very different!
The tour guide led us out to the pool.
The backyard was beautiful. Elvis spent a lot of time here entertaining friends.
The tour guide showed us the path that Elvis, Priscilla and the family used to escape the paparazzi when they left for the wedding. She said they took a side door out of the house, ran along a walkway close to the fence, ducked through these bushes and popped out on an empty lot on the next street over (Rose Ave) where a get away car was waiting.
She said that the house next door to the empty lot was Marilyn's Palm Springs home. Therefore, if I ever get rich, I will buy this lot and be Elvis and Marilyn's neighbors. Neato right?
Zack and I posed for one last photo where Elvis and Priscilla took their honeymoon photo. Over all it was a great tour! We learned a lot and loved seeing the house.
After we got home we snapped a photo of all of our Palm Springs loot! We had a blast redecorating the house!
